Baggage Information

For economy class of travel baggage over 23 kg or 50 lbs and up to 32 kg or 70 lbs charge USD 50.00 per piece.

Oversized - each bag piece within passenger allowance exceeding the dimensions of 158 cm/62in but not exceeding 273cm/107in shall be charged usd50.00 per piece.

Excess number plus oversized - each bag piece exceeding 2checked bags pieces and exceeding the dimensions of158cm/62in but not exceeding 273cm/107in shall be charged twice the applicable excess baggage fees.

Additional baggage exceeding the free checked baggage allowance of 2 checked bags per passenger regardless of class of travel will be subject to excess baggage fees.

Excess baggage fees applicable as below:

To/from NYC/GCC-Middle East Charge USD 123.00 per piece
To/from NYC/SASC- S.E.Asia Charge USD 146.00 per piece

Dear Customer,

Kuwait Airways ("KAC") is pleased to offer the following services complimentary to our passengers:

1. Meals and beverages in Aircraft Cabin (only non-alcoholic beverages)
2. Blankets, headsets for viewing movies, sleeping blinds, etc.
3. Different types of music and movies.
4. Reading materials including newspapers and magazines.
5. Advance seat selection through internet.
6. Providing seats with more leg room subject to availability.
7. Carry cot for infants less than two years old.
8. Toys and complementary items for children and F/J passengers, etc.

We do have some charges for optional services and excess baggage which include:

Baggage

Free Baggage Allowance:

In general, KAC does not charge a fee to transport our passengers' baggage in accordance with our free baggage allowance.

Excess Baggage Fees from/to USA/Canada:

However, when a passenger on a flight to or from the USA or Canada exceeds their free baggage allowance due to the size, weight, or quantity of the baggage being transported, the following excess baggage fees will apply.

Overweight - for economy class of travel, baggage over 23 kg or 50 lbs and up to 32 kg or 70 lbs shall be charged a fee of USD 50.00 per piece.

Oversized - each bag piece within passenger allowance exceeding the dimensions of 158 cm/62in but not exceeding 273cm/107in shall be charged a fee of USD 50.00 per piece.

Excess quantity – each piece of baggage exceeding the free checked baggage allowance of 2 checked bags per passenger regardless of class of travel will be subject to the following excess baggage fees:

To/from NYC/EuropeCharge USD 100.00 per piece

Excess number plus oversized - each piece of baggage exceeding 2 checked pieces and exceeding the dimensions of158cm/62in but not exceeding 273cm/107in shall be charged twice the applicable excess baggage fees.

Other services:

Medical Attention:

  • Any special needs arising from illness/health related problems
  • Special beds/incubators when required.

To take advantage of this service, we encourage passengers to contact anyone of KAC's worldwide sales offices worldwide who in turn will co-ordinate with the airlines' medical center & engineering department. A full normal one way fare is charged for stretcher patient & attendant and a surcharge of 500% is charged for the stretcher in economy class.

Incubators are charged 300% of the normal one way fare during peak seasons and 200% during off peak seasons. Incubator patients & attendants will be charged 100% of the normal one way fares. Oxygen will be charged at 200% of the normal one way fare.

Generally passengers with disabilities do not need to give any advance notice to KAC. However, in certain instances in order to offer the passenger the proper care and assistance, KAC may require advance notice as follows:

  • 72 hours advance notice for use of medical oxygen supplied by KAC for international flights.
  • 48 hours advanced notice for use of a respirator, ventilator, POC or CPAP.
  • 48 hours advance notice for carriage of an incubator.
  • 48 hours advance notice for passengers travelling on a stretcher.

For flights to and from the U.S., a safety assistant must accompany passengers traveling in a stretcher or incubator. The safety assistant must be at least 16 years old, must not have reduced mobility, and must not accompany any other passengers requiring assistance.

Our special services will ensure:....

  • On board availability of all medical equipment.
  • Direct transportation of passenger to and from arrival/departure gates.
  • Necessary travel procedures for passenger and accompanying relatives.

Unaccompanied Minors:-

Our special services unit will

  • Receive unaccompanied travelling minors from adult relatives.
  • Perform necessary departure procedures for our young passengers.
  • Ensure luggage is checked through and arrives without delay at destination.
  • Accompany minors through immigration to departure gates.
  • Send cable to destination alerting staff to take necessary measure to receive young passengers.
  • Ensure minor is received by cabin chief, who is responsible for their care during flight.
  • Said personnel will perform same procedures upon arrival of young passengers travelling alone.
  • Said personnel will ensure safe delivery of unaccompanied minors to parents or authorized adult relatives.

Unaccompanied minors between the ages of 6-12 and young flyers between the ages 12-16 are not charged for the service. However, children between the ages of 4-6 and travelling alone have to be escorted by cabin attendants. Charges for the escorts are 50% of the normal adult one way fare.

Wheelchairs:-

  • KAC has 3 types of wheelchairs available:

1. WCHC - Up to the seat of aircraft

2. WCHS - For steps

3. WCHR - For ramp

KAC does not charge passengers for wheelchairs and advance notice is not required for flights to or from the U.S. If it is possible, please contact us prior to your flight's departure so that we can better serve your specific needs.

First Time Travelers (arrival/departure):-

  • Our special service unit will be happy to assist any first time traveler needing assistance with arrival/departure procedures.

First Class and Business Class Lounges:-

  • The special services unit is responsible for all services in the Dasman and Oasis lounges. The unit also consider suggestions of passenger, thus ensuring a comfortable journey.

VIP and CIP Travelers:-

  • Special service unit staff will receive and assist those passengers (departing/arriving) in passport control procedures, check in, and send faxes or cables upon request.

Specially Disabled Passengers (deaf/mute/blind/other):-

  • Special service unit staff will receive and assist those passengers (departing/arriving) in passport control procedures, check in, and send faxes or cables upon request on a complimentary basis.

Animals:

The airline will accept the carriage of a pet in the hold provided the pet is placed in a cage and vaccinated as required by law. Certain countries have strict quarantine regulations and hence rules have to be verified before travelling. The rates to be charged are 1.5% of the normal one way economy class fare for the weight of the animal and cage. Be sure to tell us that you will be flying with a pet when you make your reservation as there are restrictions on the number of pets that can be carried in the Hold depending on the aircraft type. You must contact our sales or reservations agents to request this service as you cannot make reservations for your pet online.

For flights to and from the U.S., service dogs are permitted in the aircraft cabin and can travel free of charge. The dog does not have to be placed in a pet carrier. Passengers traveling with a service dog must provide 48 hours advance notice to KAC and check in at least one hour in advance for flights longer than eight hours.

Extra Seats:

Passengers can request an extra seat which may be used for the carriage of diplomatic mail, precious metals, musical instruments, currency, courier baggage etc. The weight of any such materials should not exceed 75kg and the passenger's free baggage allowance will not be increased. An extra seat fare will be charged.

Tour Group and Official Delegations:-

Our special services unit will

  • Receive delegation heads, or tour representatives upon arrival/departure.
  • Coordinate group check in at special counters.
  • Affix special labels on group luggage.
  • Ensure on board luggage is stowed together.
  • Receive and escort group to and from arrival/departure gates.

The free baggage allowance for checked baggage is as follows:

Adults

  • 40 kgs ( 88 lb ) for passengers paying a First Class fare.
  • 30 kgs ( 66 lb ) for passengers paying an Business Class fare.
  • 20 kgs ( 44 lb ) for passengers paying an Economy Class fare.

Children - Over two Years of age

Same as adults.

Infants

Infants traveling at 10% of the adult fare and not entitled to a seat shall only be allowed one checked baggage , Plus one fully collapsible child's stroller /pushchair or infants carrying basket or infants car seat, which may be carried in the passenger cabin subject to the availability of space provided that such maximum dimensions (the sum of the three dimensions of all such carry on items) shall not exceed 115 cm (45"). The free maximum weight for infant checked baggage should not exceed 10 kgs (22 lbs). Provided the free baggage allowance will be honored for passengers holding tickets issued in Kuwait and traveled from Kuwait for one way and return journeys. For tickets issued outside Kuwait please follow the National Carrier Practice.

Free baggage allowance (piece concept) shall be:

Whenever passenger journey originates or terminates in USA/Canada Kuwait Airways shall apply the Piece Concept on its routes whenever/wherever the baggage is through checked to final destination. However if the baggage is not through checked and the passenger breaks his, he will be entitled for piece concept free allowance as long as he does not exceed the free allowance.

Adults

First Class Passengers:

2 checked bags (pieces), of which the total sum of the 3 dimensions (Width + length + height) shall not exceed 158 cm (62") for each bag piece.

Oasis/Business Class Passengers:

Same as First Class passengers.

Economy Class Passengers:

2 checked bags (pieces), of which the total sum of the 3 dimensions shall not exceed 158 cm (62") ; provided that the addition of such two sums shall not exceed 273 cm (107") e.g., ( if one piece measures 158 cm, the second one should not exceed 115 cm ).

Children

Same as adults.

Infants

For infants traveling at 10% of the adult fare and not entitled to a seat shall only be allowed one checked bag (piece), the total sum of the 3 dimensions should not exceed 115 cm (45"), Plus one fully collapsible child's stroller/pushchair or infants carrying basket or infants car seat, which may be carried in the passenger cabin subject to the availability of space.

In addition to the free baggage allowance, the following personal effects may be carried by each passenger free of charge (always refer to the ticket condition of carriage) One or Two Items Only:

  • One Carry-on baggage must be safely stowed in the aircraft cabin. This general rule limits baggage to that which will fit in an overhead compartment or under the seat in front of the passenger. The maximum size is usually 23 x 36 x 56 cm (115 cm total) or 9 x 14 x 22" (45" total)and the maximum weight is 7 kilograms. Carry-on items must remain with the passenger at all times and are the responsibility of the passenger. Please refer to baggage free allowance for other size limitation of Carry-on baggage like Garment Bag or Suit Pack.

  • One overcoat, wrap or blanket.

  • One umbrella or walking stick.

  • One small camera and/or one pair of binoculars.

  • A reasonable amount of reading matter for the flight.

  • Infant's food for consumption in flight.

  • One Infant's carrying basket.

  • One fully collapsible stroller or push chair.

  • One fully collapsible wheelchair and/or one pair of crutches and or braces or their prosthetic device for the passenger's use.

  • A lady's handbag, pocketbook or purse, which is appropriate to normal traveling dress and is not being used as a container for the transportation of articles which would otherwise be regarded as baggage.

  • A small laptop in a reasonable laptop bag.



Note:

During the flight the above carry on items shall be kept in passenger's own custody.

Any additional items, other than those specified in above, shall be weighed with the rest of the baggage and should the allowance be exceeded, it is subject to an excess baggage charge.
